Daniel Macken
Daniel is an independent science writer and editor based in Asheville, NC. He has three years of experience as a field scientist conducting natural resource investigations and over ten years of experience as a secondary science educator. Daniel enjoys writing and reporting about all things science and is particularly interested in climate change, biology, environmental justice and science education. He earned a BS in Environmental Science and a MA in Biology Education from Western Carolina University in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. When not writing, Daniel can be found collecting vinyl records, cooking, mountain biking, or crossing small Appalachian streams on footbridges with his wife, two children and border collie.
